Western Massachusetts Genealogical Society Becomes Participating Society

Today was the first NERGC delegate meeting in which Western Massachusetts Genealogical Society was officially involved. I’ve been a delegate for NEAPG for quite a while and attended today. But WMGS is now officially a “Participating Society” for the 2017 NERGC conference (New England Regional Genealogical Conference) being held at the MassMutual Conference Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. In addition, although I still represent NEAPG and continue as its delegate, I’m also serving as a Tri-Chair assisting in putting this huge project together. It’s biennial for a reason: It really takes 2 years to “make it happen!”

For those who may not be aware, Hillary Schau has generously offered to be the official delegate. She’ll attend as many of our quarterly meetings as possible. Also, in our last WMGSmembership survey, many other members expressed interest in assisting during the conference. We’re committed to provide at least 20 hours collectively as a society. We’ll also be represented as a vendor in the Exhibition Hall where we can spread the word of what we do and perhaps add a few new members to our rolls.

Here’s the link to the website here, but it has yet to be updated for 2017. You’ll see a limited amount of information for 2017 but will soon will be edited as the conference elements come together.
